Memorial Day Weekend
Mission Trip
May 26-29, 2011

Here's a great short-term mission opportunity for ages 16 and older.  Leaving on Thursday morning, May 26, the group will travel to the Cranks Creek Survival Center in Harlan County, KY. The team will work repairing low income homes in the Harlan County area on Friday and Saturday.  After worship and rest in the area on Sunday, the group will return to Mooresville on Sunday, May 29 around 5:00 p.m..  The only cost for the trip will be for personal expenses (meals, snacks, drinks, etc.).  Transportation will be provided by the church.

African Mission Trip
June 21-July 8, 2011

We’re heading back to Zambia (passports and some inoculations are required) to work at the United Church of Zambia mission in Mwandi. Tentative dates are June 21-July 8. There will be opportunities to work at the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Center (OVC), the local community, the mission hospital, the church and the school. Construction skills are a plus but not required. Cost of the trip will be around $3500 (includes round trip airline tickets from Charlotte, sightseeing safari, lodging and most meals). An informational meeting will be held Wednesday, January 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Contact Fred Coates for more information about the meeting or the trip.

Local, Regional and International Mission

We seek to live out Jesus' Great Commandment and Great Commission by serving others in His name.  Some of the work we are engaged in is:

  • Scouting - We sponsor Cub Pack 166 for boys ages 6-10 and Boy Scout Troop 166 for boys 10-18 years old, both National Quality unit award winners.  Girl Scout Troop 591 and Brownie Troop 778 also meet at the church.

  • Mooresville Christian Mission.  Whether participating in a food drive, volunteering at the mission or providing financial assistance, there is always something that can be done.
